The concept of PALES IN STYLE was to design products from old fence palings to create mirrors and picture frames.
Born in Mitchell, Queensland, Australia,
Daniel Dray's handcrafted designs reflect his country background .Through his desire to travel overseas,Daniel swapped his original trade as a motor mechanic to work for three years in England. During this time, Daniel's hands-on involvement in heritage and old period style building instilled a desire to return to Australia to begin a career combining this knowledge of old and new materials in a unique finish. Daniel's success in this industry hasn't changed his priority to continue to include the country touch in all of his products. Daniel has continued to place this country feel in his work through the use of recycled materials obtained from the Darling Downs area. Daniel and his
father-in-law Eddie Albeck also frequently travel to
South West Queensland to retrieve materials from the Albeck family's
"Qui Qui" property near Nindigully.
Since adding his creation of Electric Timber Lamps that use the unique period style switches of the Classic Electric Switch Company, Daniel has gained much knowledge of this product and has now added the entire range to this website. Classic Switches and Accessories can be viewed and purchase by clicking on this link Classic Switches.
With the use of recycled timbers Daniel has also created his own style of mounting blocks to suit this range.
Restoration Hardware is also a new product range that will added to this site soon.
Reclaimed supplies are sourced predominately from the Nindigully, Dirranbandi and St George areas. Fence posts, stumps, old timber planks and ripple-iron from shearing sheds and the like, are utilized by Daniel to create his unique products. Since 1997,his creations from 'old' & new timbers have expanded to include a large range of furniture home wares and gifts, each piece original and unique.
All of Daniel's products are his original design and are proudly made in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.
